  • Graphical representation on reduction of concrete property due to presents of Voids

Effect of voids in concrete on modulus of elasticity, compressive strength, and flexural strength

Compressive strength is first effected by voids (i.e, approx 90% reduction in
strength of concrete for about 30% of voids).

Flexural strength is secondly effected by voids (i.e, approx 80% reduction in
strength of concrete for about 30% of voids) .

Modulus of elasticity is thirdly effected by voids (i.e, approx 78% reduction in
strength of concrete for about 30% of voids) .

Other properties also effected due to presence of voids are,

    * Penetration resistance is reduces will induce less resistance against chemical attacks.

    * Internal stress is increases due to increase in voids(freezing and thawing effect).

    * Durability of concrete is reduces due to presence of voids.

    * Corrosion of steel in RC structural members.
